Kidney Cancer Alternative Treatments
What Is Kidney Cancer?
Simply put this is Cancer that forms in tissues of the kidneys. Kidney cancer also includes renal cell carcinoma (cancer that forms in the lining of very small tubes in the kidney that filter the blood and remove waste products) and renal pelvis carcinoma (which is cancer that forms in the center of the kidney where urine collects).
What Are The Symptoms Of Kidney Cancer?
There are no noticeable signs when kidney cancer first starts to develops. However, kidney cancers can be picked up on ultrasound scans and once the cancer begins to grow, the symptoms can become more obvious.
- Blood in the urine is the most common symptom of kidney cancer and about 50% of those diagnosed will have this symptom. Bear in mind that the blood does not have to be there all the time. It may come and go. Sometimes, the blood cannot be seen by the naked eye but can be picked up by a simple urine test.
- A lump or mass in the area of the kidney, but most kidney cancers are too small for you or a doctor to feel so the kidneys need to be scanned to check for cancer.
(Remember - most people who go to the doctor with blood in their urine do not have kidney cancer. In most cases, blood in the urine is caused by an infection, enlargement of the prostate, or kidney stones).
Some people can have other symptoms such as:
- Tiredness
- Loss of appetite
- Weight Loss
- A high temperature and very heavy sweating
- A pain in the side that won't go away
- A general feeling of poor health
- High blood pressure and having fewer red blood cells than normal (anaemia) can also be symptoms of kidney cancer as these symptoms are related to the hormones that the kidneys produce.
